Summer Heat and Food Trucking..

For some reason, several weeks ago, I thought it would be a neat idea to go to the Food Cart Fest at the Waldorf on the hottest day of the Summer. That was until I realized that standing in line for 45 minutes next to a hot stove and uncomfortable fumes was really not a good idea.  It gets to that point where you’ve waited so long, you might as well keep on waiting.

I’m internally debating if the food cart craze is just a passing fad, though I have to admit, I do enjoy watching these cooks at work. Especially in such heat and with a growing crowd of increasingly impatient patrons, it’s amazing to see how these cooks are putting out their A game, every time.

Above — Double Smoked Bacon, Greens, Tomato, Avocado, Farmhouse Cheddar, Bacon Mayo Wrap from Pig on the Street (doggies beware, they like to feed bacon to canine friends)

Hot Capicola, Hot Peppers and Havarti on Sourdough from Mom’s Grilled Cheese (such a lovely lady that runs this one)

Blueberry Cinnamon Ice Cream from Sunday Morning – a love project from my old colleague

The Food Cart Fest at the Waldorf ends this Sunday. I’m sure the weather will be much more bearable!

And to end this post on a random yet someone related note….Gloria and I went biking a few weeks back to get some exercise. But on our way down to the seawall, we got distracted by the Halibut Masala Curry from Vij’s Railway. Eating always gets in the way of exercising.
